Alen Lalic — Clinical Trial Enrollment & Patient Recruitment Expert

Alen Lalic is a clinical research entrepreneur and the Founder and CEO of Clinical Trial Scan™, where he builds predictive, data-driven patient recruitment and enrollment systems for clinical trial sites, site networks, CROs, and sponsors. His work focuses on making trial enrollment measurable and forecastable: modeling recruitment funnels, projecting cost per enrolled patient, and monitoring screening and randomization performance in real time so studies can be planned and corrected before timelines slip.

Predictive Enrollment Engineering™

He is the originator of Predictive Enrollment Engineering™, a methodology that applies engineering discipline, applied analytics, and digital patient outreach to a process historically governed by guesswork. It integrates clinical operations, technology, and statistical modeling into one framework covering feasibility, outreach, pre-screening, screening, and randomization, while preserving compliance, patient experience, and data integrity.

Current Work

Through Clinical Trial Scan™ and its forecasting product Dyno, Alen works with research organizations across multiple therapeutic areas on enrollment forecasting, recruitment funnel optimization, and cost-per-enrolled-patient prediction. Related work includes a pending U.S. patent application for a probabilistic, funnel-based enrollment cost prediction platform, and articles published with the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).

Background

Alen graduated from Columbia University in 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Pre-Medical Studies, and from Vlerick Business School in 2017 with a Master's in Management: Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Before clinical research he ran an independent consultancy in life sciences, consumer packaged goods, and marketing, branding, and advertising strategy.
